Interview with Nguyen Thi Khiem Nhu

Nguyen Thi Khiem Nhu, born 1987 in Dak Lak, is a book editor and freelance writer based in Ho Chi Minh City. She graduated from the Literary Creation & Critique faculty at the Hanoi University of Culture, and has published two collections of short stories.
Khiem Nhu has been actively voicing her opinions on political and environmental issues, both online and in protests on the street. For her, politics is an inseparable part of one’s life, therefore, regardless of who you are or what you do, you ought to get involved in political and social matters. As a consequence, she has faced harassment from the authorities for her peaceful activism. In this second video of our interview series with female activists in Vietnam, Khiem Nhu shares with us her story and reflection on the role of women in Vietnamese society.
