Tran Trong Khai was arrested and detained in unknown circumstances, for an undefined period of time. The attorney invited by Huynh Anh Khoa’s family only noticed Khai’s involvement in the case after they went to the trial. Khai was probably arrested and denied his own right to legal protection. The arrest date in his profile is an assumption, based on the other two defendants’ arrest date.

Huynh Anh Khoa and Nguyen Dang Thuong were arrested on June 13, 2020, for their activities in an online discussion group. They were also charged with and convicted of “abusing democratic freedoms” under Article 331 of the 2015 Criminal Code.

July 2021:

Tran Trong Khai was released on June 11, 2021, upon completion of his one year sentence. Khai is believed to have been the moderator (along with Huynh Anh Khoa and Nguyen Dang Thuong) of the Facebook group named Bàn luận Kinh tế-Chính trị (Economic-Political Discussion) which has 46,000 followers.
