The Vietnamese government alleges that since 2021, Khanh has used his Facebook account to "make friends with many domestic and foreign social network accounts to comment, share, and distribute documents aimed at defaming the Party, State and government, as well as Party members and officials" and "distorted history, incited, and caused division and disunity between religions and the state."
On February 4, 2024, he was arrested by An Giang provincial police and charged under Article 117.
