Charged under Art. 331 (2015 Code).
On March 28, 2024, Binh Duong provincial police arrested Hoang Quoc Viet and charged him with "abusing democratic freedoms" under Art. 331. He was later released and put under house arrest.
Viet was arrested for the content of Facebook posts deemed to slander the authorities, specifically speaking out about the case of death row inmate Ho Duy Hai, who many believe was unjustly convicted.
Arrested at the same time was fellow blogger Nguyen Duc Du.
