History of Activism

Ksor Ruk advocates for the freedom of religion and belief. Accused of “undermining the state’s unity policy," Ksor Ruk was imprisoned for six years starting in 2007. After being released in 2013, he continued his missionary work in his local area.

Family Situation

His family is in a difficult situation. They have five children; the youngest one was just one month old when he was arrested.

Sentenced to 10 years in prison under Art. 116 (2015 Code). Expected Release is October 30, 2028.

Details of Imprisonment

On March 15, 2019, The People’s Court of Gia Lai Province held the first instance trial against Ksor Ruk, an ethnic minority Protestant missionary. He was sentenced to ten years under the charge of "undermining the state's unity policy," Article 116 of the 2015 Criminal Code.

According to the indictment, he was accused of connecting with members of FULRO, an exiled group in America, with a determination to re-establish a Dega independent state. From October 2017 to September 2018, Ksor Ruk was allegedly responsible for reviving “Dega Protestantism” and leading others in many areas within Gia Lai province.

Finally, he was arrested on October 30, 2018.
