Truong Dat Tu, living in Dak Lak Province, used to be an education and training official at College of Industry and Trade.

He was also known as a freelance journalist, who advocates for freedom of expression. Because of taking a photo, in which Tu claimed political prisoner Huynh Thuc Vy’s innocence, Tu was fired from his job.

Truong Dat Tu, an official in Education and Training Office for the Vietnam Industrial and Commercial College, took a photo to show his support of Huynh Thuc Vy, an activist who was sentenced to prison for defacing the Vietnamese flag. The Head of the Public Security department of Dak Lak Province, Vu Hong Van, pressured the college to dismiss him, and the dean of the college followed their direction. Tu was fired from his job, according to the news revealed by Facebooker Hung Tran on December 9, 2018.
