Incident Group: Harassment of activists in the days following the Dong Tam raid

The deadly Dong Tam raid resulted in the death of four people and led to quick and intensive information cover up with a curfew order in Hoanh village, Dong Tam. Any activist or journalist who attempted to go to Dong Tam after the incident was briefly arrested and interrogated. Not only that, the security forces even prevented people from attending slain local leader Le Dinh Kinh’s funeral. The use of any recording devices was alos banned. 

Others who tried to disseminate information about the safety and condition of people in Dong Tam and the arrestees using Facebook and social media were subject to harassment and online attacks. Several commentators have been sentenced to prison.
